Arsene Wenger lost his cool on Friday night after claiming Arsenal had received no offers for striker Robin van Persie.
Despite Sir Alex Ferguson admitting Manchester United had bid, Wenger was adamant no formal offers had been tabled for his want-away captain.
And the Arsenal boss cracked following his side’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester City when he was pushed to clarify the situation.
“We have talked about Van Persie,” said Wenger, his voice full of irritation. “We have just played a game, there are four English people here and there have been four questions about him.

Although Arsenal revealed last week bids for the Dutch star had been received from United, City and Juventus, Wenger tried to claim otherwise.
The Dutchman is absent from Arsenal’s Far East tour, ostensibly to work on his fitness after playing for Holland at Euro 2012.
Wenger added: “Van Persie is close to fitness. But we have not had any more contact from City or United about him.”

Roberto Mancini endorsed Wenger’s claim that no bids had been submitted for the forward.
“If he said this, I think it’s true. Van Persie is one of the best strikers so it’s difficult to buy him,” said the City boss.
